A Day in Old New Castle offered a once-a-year opportunity to stroll through gardens in full bloom and peek inside some lovely homes. But private home and garden tours weren't all that a Day in Old New Castle had to offer

Visit Historic Public Buildings

All of the town museums including the Read, Amstel, and Dutch Houses will be open. See guided tours of their exhibits, featuring authentic recreations of colonial life.

 

Learn about the Town's History

There will be several guided walking tours, including one featuring the history of New Castle, A Stones and Bones tour of the town's graveyards, and a tour of the churches in New Castle.

 

Hear the Bells

Listen to change ringing of the bells in the tower of the Immanuel on the Green church.

Enjoy Period Music and Dance

Local children in period costumes will play throughout the day.   

Experience a Choral Evensong
The Choir of Women and Men of Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green will sing a choral evensong, a tradional prayer service performed musically.

Drink and Dine
Eat lunch at one of New Castle's restaurants, purchase a light meal, or bring your own picnic to enjoy at the side of the Delaware River in Battery Park.
